Measurements
This IoT project is focused on monitoring the condition of thermally active old mine dumps.
In addition to temperature, gas concentrations are measured, such as carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulfide, benzene, and oxygen.
Pilot monitoring installations run in the Ostrava and Plzeň regions, specifically on the thermally active old mine dumps of Krimich and Heřmanice.
Temperature and concentrations of hazardous gases are measured (Krimich - temperature only, Heřmanice - temperature and gases).
✓ Measured gases: concentrations of carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulfide, benzene, oxygen, and possibly other.
✓ Temperature - measured not only on the surface, but also at various depths using IQRF wireless sensors.
Transmission technology
Sensors equipped with IQRF communication can be operated for many years without battery replacement.
IQRF enables wireless transmission in an autonomous network with low-energy operation.
Graphs of temperature profiles and gases in the spoil tip allow the dynamics of processes to be monitored over time.
✓ Early detection of spontaneous combustion and hazardous gases
✓ Autonomous operation, mesh network functioning even in demanding conditions, battery life of several years
✓ Targeted maintenance – minimization of field inspections, reduction of costs and risks for personnel
✓ IQRF is a reliable and economical platform for continuous monitoring of geotechnical and chemical parameters of tailings piles in mining areas.
