FEECS experts monitor air during subway construction

Based on long-term cooperation with major geotechnical companies, FEECS experts joined the monitoring of important parameters in the air during the construction of Subway Line D near Pankrác.
"We designed and put into operation a modern wireless system that measures concentrations of hazardous substances such as xylene and gasoline vapors.
The system, which uses advanced IoT technology IQRF (Internet of Things), was able to reliably monitor the state of the air at six different locations for six months," explains team leader Radovan Hájovský.
The monitoring system infrastructure was built using a robust MESH topology.
The data was accessible online to responsible personnel, who had the opportunity to check the measured values and, in the event of increased concentrations, quickly react to ensure safety.
"This project shows how modern technologies contribute to protecting people's health on construction sites. We will continue our successful cooperation," added Hájovský, whose team includes colleagues from the Department of Cybernetics and Biomedical Engineering Martin Pieš and Jan Velička.
